Lovund is an small island located in Lurøy municipality and is one of the most distinctive island on the Helgeland coast. Despite the humble size, Lovund is one of the most entrepreneurial coastal communities, and it plays a leading role in Norwegian aquaculture.

Lovund is a dramatic, starkly beautiful island with a handful of red wooden houses huddled against the Atlantic elements beneath a towering rocky outcrop that rises 623m above the sea.

Lovund is known as home to one of the largest puffin colonies in Norway. If you are a birdwatcher or just want to see the colonies of Atlantic Puffins, the 14. April is the day you want to be at Lovund. This is ‘Lundkommardag’, a day we celebrates the puffins arrival.
